How to Select your Outfit for a first Date
You want to look simply stunning on your first date, and part of this is a great outfit. Of course there is no one outfit that is perfect for every first date because it will depend on you, your date and of course where you are going.
Make sure that it is the appropriate formality for the occasion
You do not want to be underdressed when going to a fancy dinner. If you do, you may appear that you did spend the time or effort to be appropriate or you did not realize that you should have been dressed up. On the other hand you may appear a little “geeky” if you dress for a casual event in a coat and tie. Think about how people normally dress where you are going. It is also better to be a little overdressed than underdressed.
Wear something that is flattering
Of course you want to pick out one of your most flattering outfits. Most people have the outfits in their closets that make them go “wow.” It might be a color or a cut that minimizes the bad spots and highlights the good.
Pick something that is representative of you
Many people feel that their clothing helps represent their individuality. If you are fun loving and free then you might represent that with a colorful outfit. If you are very feminine, then you may wear a lacy dress. If you love sports, then you may wear some sports fan apparel, which can also be a great conversation starter for a first date. Your date may base some opinions on how you look, and that includes the clothing that you decide to wear.
Consider how suggestive it is
You want to be careful about wearing something that will send out a message. Of course you may also want to attract your date. You can be both attractive and classy, however. Consider how you normally dress and the image you want to portray.
Make sure that it is neat and clean
No matter what you wear, you want it to look very clean and neat. The pieces should match and not clash. You do not want to look like you just rifled through your drawer (or worse, your hamper) for the first thing that you could find.
