Cleaning Tasks before Moving into a new Home

The exact cleaning tasks you will have before moving into a new home will be dependent upon the state of the house. If you are moving into a brand new home you will have a far different amount of cleaning before you move into one that is a foreclosed and sold “as is.” No matter what, you may want to consider the following tasks.
Clean the floors
Even in a brand new house, people will have walked in and out of the house in their shoes – the same house that you and your family will now be walking in barefoot (or which your baby might be crawling on). You want to make sure that all of the floors are cleaned and sanitized. How exactly you will clean them will depend on the type of flooring. You should sweep or vacuum to get up any loose pieces of dirt that you can see. You can mop or scrub tile or linoleum. You can also consider getting the carpets, wood and other flooring professionally cleaned if you would be more comfortable. You may want to consider using something that sanitizes such as a steam mop or a cleaner.
Clean all of the counters
You want to make sure that the countertops are very clean, especially in places like the kitchen where you will be handling food. Use cleaners and sanitizers to wipe down all countertops. Clean the sinks.
You also want to clean all of the kitchen appliances. These are the places where bacteria can hide, even if you cannot see it. Make sure that you thoroughly scrub the refrigerator, dishwasher and anywhere else where food will be prepared, cooked or near. Clean all pantries and closets.
Clean the bathrooms
Especially if the house is pre-owned you want to give the bathroom your own cleaning. Make sure that the shower and toilet are free of mold or other dirt. Clean through the medicine cabinet.
Clean the furniture and other possessions
You will want to clean your furniture. This includes any furniture that came with the house and furniture you are bringing from your old home. You should also clean anything that is dirty from your prior house. This is the perfect opportunity for you to go through one item after the next.
No matter whether your house is new or just new to you, you want it to be sparkling clean. Perform the above cleaning tasks before moving into your new home.
