Cattle play a big part in the lives of many Americans. A bulletin board exploring these animals can be interesting for students. There are a number of elements that you could include in such a board.
Start off with a great background
You can use a black and white cow print for the background if you want it to be interesting. You may find this in wrapping paper or fabric. Include a colorful border.
Place in pictures of cattle
Especially if the children cannot yet read they might like to see pictures of cattle. You can show photographs of cows of different colors and types. You can also show pictures of calves so they can see how they start out and then grow and mature. You can show photographs of what they eat and where they live. You can have a combination of photographs, paintings, and drawings.
Place in facts about cattle
You can discuss the different details about cattle. The children will probably be very shocked to find out how big cows can get and how much they weigh! You can talk about their diet and how they care for their young.
Show how humans and cattle interact
You can discuss the products we get from cattle such as milk. You can write about how cows are regarded and treated in different cultures. You can also show the history of how cattle have interacted with humans throughout the years.
Put in poems/books/songs about cattle
Interspersed with the pictures and serious information you can also put in pictures, books or other fun media that are related to cattle. For instance, you can post up a book that is about cows such as Click, Clack, Moo. You can show an artist’s depiction of the cow jumping over the moon.
Get the children involved
The children may be more interested in a bulletin board about cattle if they can be involved in it. You can have them draw pictures of cows, for instance. Older children can write out reports, which you can post on your bulletin board. They can come up with poems about them as well.
Embellish your bulletin board
You can put in stickers of cows. You can take a little stuffed cow doll and mount it up as well. You can write in words like “Moo!”
