When Christmas 2010 comes, you will want to get something very special for the woman who raised you. It does not have to be an expensive gift to be special. Consider the following ideas.
Journal of your special memories
Your mother might enjoy this gift more than the rarest diamond. Get a pretty journal – you can often find these for under $10 at a bookstore or general store like Target. In it, start writing about the special times that you remember with your mother. Write down the amazing things that she did for you as a child – the things that she might not even realize that you remember. Tell her how you feel about her – things that you are too busy to say on a regular basis. Let her know what she has taught you and what you can credit her for. The journal can be as long as you want it to be – many will probably be able to fill an entire book. It can be something that your mother can read again and again, and make her feel special.
Jewelry
Your mother might love a special piece of jewelry. You can get her a custom piece that has the birthstones of her children and/or grandchildren. You could get something that says “Special Mom” or another such sentiment. It can be a heart to represent the love that you have for her. They make pieces of gold, silver and synthetic materials to fit all different sorts of budgets and styles.
Scrapbook
Your mother might love if you make her some sort of scrapbook. You can include pictures of special times. You can also include mementos such as a ticket stub from a special show that you saw together. This might be especially nice if you now have kids as well.
Gift of experience
Your mother might like to do something rather than to get something. For instance, you can send her on a special vacation such as a cruise. You can get her a membership to a zoo, museum or somewhere else you think she would like to visit. You can also pay for her to get some spa services such as a massage, manicure or pedicure. If she has always wanted to learn something new such as photography, then you can even send her to some classes. Make sure to choose something you really think she would like.
