Classroom Decorating Ideas for Halloween
Boo! You want your classroom to be scary, spooky or just plain silly for Halloween. You can decorate in a number of ways, and of course you will need to take into account the age of the students. The following ideas may work for you.
Spider webs
Spider webs are easy to put up, inexpensive and of course they don’t really bite. Simply take some cotton and stretch it out to make the webs. Of course they also make webs that you can buy. You can get some black plastic spiders to put in them. You can even get ones that are rings and the children can take them home after the holiday as a souvenir.
Pumpkins
Pumpkins are great to decorate a classroom at Halloween because they do not have to be scary so they can be great for all ages. You can have pumpkins of all different sizes. You can carve them in classic jack-o-lantern patterns. There are also paints that are specifically made for pumpkins.
Costumes
Place costumes all over the room. If you happen to have kids’ costumes or can get them inexpensively from a garage sale or website, then you can post these up. It can show the kids of what they might like to dress up as for Halloween.
Make a witch
You can have a life size witch in the room. You can use pillow cases filled with newspaper for the body and the head. Paint or use markers to decorate the features. You can dress her up in a witch’s costume. You can put a wig and a pointy hat on top of her head and have her riding on a broom.
Get the children involved
The children can have a lot of fun helping you decorate for Halloween. For instance, if you decide to have pumpkins as described above then you can have the children paint them. You can have the kids draw pictures of witches, haunted houses or other Halloween themes and post these around the room. You can also have them make mobiles that are Halloween related. They can draw small pictures of items related to Halloween like witch’s hats or pumpkins. They can then cut them out, punch a hole at the top and attach a string to them. They can then take a wire hanger and attach a bunch of them to make a Halloween mobile. You can have these decorating the entire room.
When Halloween comes you can have the room decorated appropriately. Consider the above ideas for this.
