A lot of children love cats. A feline based bulletin board can be both attractive and educational for any classroom. Consider the following ideas for making such a board.
Start with an attractive display
Some teachers make their background just paper so that the objects stand out but you can get creative if you want. There is wrapping paper covered in cats that might be a great background. You could even put in cat related wallpaper or fabric.
Place up pictures of cats
Do not just include the pictures of everyday cats that the children are already familiar with. Instead you can put up pictures of all different types of cats. The children will probably be amazed at how unique some of the cats are. You can include pictures of cats from different countries.
Place up information about cats
Of course you want the children to learn about these animals. You can give an idea of how many breeds there are. You can talk about how different cultures view cats now and throughout history. You can discuss details on how big they get, what they eat, how they live in domestication and in the wild, the different wild animals they are related to, and so forth. How detailed you get will depend on the age and grade level of the children.
Put up book covers and comics that are related to cats
You will see cats all over in both fictional and non-fiction books. One idea is to place these on the board. For instance, you can put up the favorite “The Cat in the Hat.” You can put up comics like Garfield. You can put up the stories in their entirety or make up a story yourself.
Get the children involved
The children may pay more attention to the bulletin board if they play some part in it. You could have them draw pictures of cats or do reports on them, which you them post as part of your display.
Post up other cat related items
There are many other items related to cats that you can post up to embellish your board. For instance, you can put up postcards that have cats. You can put up copies of pictures by famous authors with cats. You can also post up stickers of cats or other embellishments.
Many children would find a bulletin board about cats to be a lot of fun. The above ideas can help you get started on your board.
