Baby Accessories new Parents need for their Newborn
Unfortunately, newborn babies do not come with their own accessories, however you need a lot of different products. You may want to stock up on the following items for your new bundle of joy.
Clothing accessories
There are few things as cut as tiny baby socks. Your newborn cannot retain heat like an older child can, and you do not want those little toes to get cold. Remember that these may get lost or dirty so you might want to have many pairs for backup.
Babies also need hats or caps. How long they have to wear them will depend on the weather, but it can help keep them warm. They make many adorable types, and you should get one that is right for the weather.
Your baby might feel most comfortable wrapped in a swaddling blanket. You will need a variety of these because he or she may spit up on them.
Changing accessories
You will probably go through a lot of diapers with your newborn. Sometimes a single diaper change can have four or more diapers! You will need different accessories related to this. For instance, you might want some portable changing pads. They make ones specifically for the car and for travel. You may also want to get some wipes containers. You can get a big one for home use and a smaller one to carry with you. You will also need a diaper bag to carry all of your diaper changing accessories.
Feeding accessories
Of course most newborns do not eat solid food yet but you may need supplies related to breastfeeding such as bottles to store breast milk. You also might want to get some burp cloths to protect your clothing while you are holding your baby. Some people like to have bibs to protect their baby’s clothing from drool or spit up. Once the baby is a little older you will need spoons, bowls, etc.
Safety accessories
It is never too early to begin thinking about safety. You may need latches to protect the baby from places.
Bathing accessories
You will probably want washcloths, sponges, etc. for when cleaning your baby.
Medical accessories
You may want to get some spoons or syringes to feed the baby medicine if the need arises. You should have a rectal thermometer. You will want some little nail clippers, tweezers and a suction device. You can usually find kits that come with a lot of these items.
There are many accessories you will need for your newborn. The best thing to do might be to go with a friend that has a baby to a store such as Babies R Us and scour the aisles for all of the items that you might need.
