Best Ways to do the Family Laundry
It’s family laundry day, and you want to get it done as quickly and efficiently as possible. Consider the following best practices for this necessary activity.
Gather all of the clothing
Before you even get the first load in, you might want to get all of the clothing together. There are few things as frustrating as running all of your family laundry only to go into your child’s room and find one sock on the ground seemingly laughing at you. You can get your family to help you with this by having everyone (who is old enough) bring their laundry to the laundry room.
Place the clothes into piles of the loads
If you have a big family, then family laundry day is probably filled with a lot of clothing. You will want to separate them into piles of similar clothing and washing instructions. You probably also want to economize by making the loads as large as possible. It may be easiest to make the piles right away. You may have a good place in which to do this such as if you are fortunate enough to have a large laundry room, or you may otherwise just put them on your floor if you will be doing all of the family laundry at that time anyways.
Make sure that you have all of the products you need
You do not want to be halfway through your family laundry when you realize that you are out of soap, bleach, fabric softener, etc. Have these all out and ready.
Get started on the loads
Start your washer and begin making your way through the loads. You might want to keep up with it since you want to get it all done as quickly as possible. Have a nice clean place to put the laundry so that it can be folded. If the other members of the household are old enough you can have them help you fold the clothes. Make sure that they are folded neatly so they will stay nice. If it is something that can wrinkle, then be sure to hang them right away.
Get the clothing away
You can have each member of the family bring their clothing to their rooms or you can do it yourself.
Family laundry can seem like a lot but if you take it step by step you can get it done. Utilize the above steps for this activity.
