: How to Make Watching Football Games on TV a Family Affair
:
(410 Words)
Football season does not have to be a time that the family divides, with some members watching the sport avidly while others are excluded and ignored. Instead, make watching football games on TV a family affair. Consider the following strategies.
Make a plan that the entire family will watch together
Everyone has busy schedules nowadays. It can be difficult to suddenly say that everyone must stop what they are doing and change plans to spend quality time together watching a football game. You should instead plan for it so that the family members know in advance that they will have something to do and shouldn’t make other plans. They should get other obligations like schoolwork children might have due on Monday done so that they are free to watch.
Plan for some fun “eats” for the entire family
Celery sticks and beer might not work for little kids. A lot of people like to eat while they are watching football on TV and you can plan to have food items for the entire family. You can get a barbeque going and make everyone what they like. Have fun drinks for the kids, too, like virgin frozen drinks. You can have fun snacks like potato chips and dip, pretzels, etc. You can have some healthier options for your kids such as fruit and vegetables.
Make sure that it is appropriate for the little ones
Some guys might be used to getting drunk while they are watching football games on TV. Obviously if you are going to make it a family affair, you might want to try to restrain a little. Also you should watch while you say. You do not want your children picking up the habit of swearing and cursing at the team. Of course, it is great to get excited, and that can be something fun that you share as you root for your favorite team while watching football games on TV.
Teach everyone about the game, the players, the rules, etc.
Some members of the family might not enjoy the game because they do not understand it and have trouble “getting into it” because of that. You should make sure that everyone understands the rules. Teach them about the different players. As the game is going on, you can talk to each other to try to make it more quality time.
There are many ways to turn football games on TV into family time. Use the above strategies.
