: Bulletin Board Ideas Shapes

:
(407 Words)
Young children usually learn about the different shapes early in school. One way that you can display this is through the use of a bulletin board. Consider the following ideas for such a board.
Pictures of the different shapes
The simplest way to make such a bulletin board is to just put pictures of the different shapes with the names underneath them. You can make them big and all different colors so that they stand out. You can add embellishments like glitter. You can line them neatly in rows or make them more of a collage.
Show pictures of things that are different shapes
If you want to do more, then you can add in photographs of different objects that resemble shapes. This might help the children to remember better. For instance, for circles you can put in a picture of a pizza, the moon, a Frisbee, a bagel, etc. For a triangle, you can show a slice of cake, a traffic cone, etc. You can try to find things for all of the different shapes. You can also go over these with the class.
Make the bulletin board stand out
You can literally make the bulletin board three dimensional by attaching things to the board. You can just try to make the actual shapes that stand out. For instance, for a rectangle shape you can attach the lid of a shoebox. For the circle, you can cut a Styrofoam ball in half and attach that. You can find something to affix for all of the shapes. You can also attach different everyday items that resemble that shape. For instance, you can put up fake coins for the circle, fake dollar bills for the rectangles, and so forth.
Make “shape people”
You can draw people and animals made out of different shapes. The head can be the circle, a dress can be a rectangle and so forth. You can make an entire scene with everything made of different shapes. You can label the shapes so that they know what they are.
Have the children do projects or drawings on the different shapes
Getting the kids involved in the formation of the board may increase their attention. You can have them each draw a picture of a different shape and then attach these to the board.
Make sure that the board is neat and colorful to draw in the kids. Use the above ideas when making your board.
