: The best way to Deal with a Crisis of Lack of Confidence

No matter how amazing you are or what skills you possess, you may still be faced with a crisis of a lack of confidence. Oftentimes confidence does not stem from our abilities but rather from our perception thereof, and this is often skewed. Consider the following remedies to deal with this situation.
List your positive characteristics
Sometimes the best way to get over a crisis of confidence is to think about all of the good characteristics about you. For instance, let’s say you are feeling worried about your job. In particular, you are worried that you are going to do badly on a presentation to the big boss. Think about any successes you have had with past presentations. Think about how you know the subject matter. A lot of times you will find that you do have all of the abilities. If the confidence is just a general feeling about yourself then you can list your positive characteristics.
Try to understand why you are feeling this lack of confidence
Especially if you can find a lot of reasons why you shouldn’t be feeling this lack of confidence, then you may be able to overcome it by understanding why it is occurring in the first place. Let’s say you are going on a date and you suddenly are feeling very scared about it. Let’s say you went over your positive characteristics and you know that you are a good catch. Now it’s time to think of why you are scared. Are you really hopeful for the relationship and worried it will get messed up? Is it just anxiety? If you can realize that your lack of confidence comes not from an actual lack but instead from fear, you might be able to reassure yourself.
Draw support from others
You may be able to help your confidence if you draw support from others. Talk to a family member, friend or loved one that you trust and explain your confidence crisis. They may be able to help you get through it and reassure you. Also, if you are worried about a particular event such as a blind date, then role-playing it with your friend may help you gain confidence.
Read books or seek further help
You are not alone in your confidence crisis. A lot of people go through this one time or another. There are books you can purchase such as Want, Meet Whom You Want, and Go Where You Want by Horn. Also, if you find that you just cannot get over it, consult a professional.
Your lack of confidence may take many forms and may be related to relationships, work, your body image or any number of other characteristics. Consider the above ideas to help overcome such a crisis.
