How to Save Money on Holiday Cards
Holiday cards can be quite expensive. Many people spend a dollar or more on each card. Some spend several dollars per card. However, you do not need to spend this much money to make wonderful and special cards. The following are some ways to save money on holiday cards.
Have your children make the cards
Obviously, this only works if you have children, but otherwise you might be able to make the cards yourself. Many people would enjoy a beautiful handmade card the best, better than any expensive yet impersonal card. Depending on the ages of your kids, they can draw pictures, write sentiments or just sign their names. This can be a special piece of “artwork” that relatives and friends can save for a long time.
Buy in advance during the “after holiday clearance”
One way to save a lot of money on holiday cards is to purchase cards the year before during the holiday clearance. Many holiday items get extremely cheap, and may cost you literally 10% of normal cost if you get lucky and find it at the end of the clearance. You can just make it a practice to purchase your cards a year ahead. Cards are not that big so most people will have a place that they can store them for the year.
Buy photo cards from an inexpensive place
You will find many places such as Costco, which offers photo cards for very inexpensive. These usually will also come with envelopes. You can choose the picture, and they will usually have different designs from which to choose. There are many such websites that offer such cards. Be careful, however, because some can be pricey.
Use a software program that makes cards
There are many software programs that allow you to make cards. You can often design your own cards, inputting pictures, text, clip art or whatever else you would like to include. These can be very unique. You can make the same one for everyone or personalize each one. People will appreciate the time that you spent, and you will only spend money on the paper and ink, which should be far less than the expensive cards you might otherwise purchase.
Holiday cards are a wonderful tradition but they can be expensive. Consider the above tips to help you save money and still have beautiful cards to send to all of your family and friends.
