Portable islands
You can get a kitchen island to increase the counter space in your kitchen. They make kitchen islands with many different dimensions, so if you have any space at all, you might be able to find one to fit. Some of them are more like small carts and parts that can be propped up to make even more space. Others are larger and can provide a significant amount of space in your kitchen. Most come with other features such as shelves where you can store small appliances, dish towels and other items.
Storage
Evaluate what you’re storing on the counter. You should look at all of the things that are on your countertops to decide what doesn’t have to be there. For instance, you may have some decorative items that look nice but take away from the practicality of the kitchen. You may also have appliances that you only use once in a while. You can store those under a cabinet or elsewhere to free up counter space.
Downsizing appliances
You might want to change appliances to smaller versions. For instance, perhaps you have a gigantic microwave that is far bigger than you need. You could replace it with something much smaller and give yourself more counter space.
Rearranging items
Another method to give yourself more room on the counters is to move items around. For instance, you can get a microwave that hangs underneath a cabinet. This might free up a lot of space.
Dinette tables
You could purchase a dinette table that serves a dual purpose. In addition to eating on it, you can use it as a counter to help you prepare your food.
Kitchen redesign
You can also literally add more counters to your kitchen. If you are redoing your kitchen, then you are not committed the same design you had before. Even in the same space you might be able to add a lot of counter space simply by redesigning the layout of the kitchen. Also, even if you are not redoing it, you can consider adding in more counters if you have extra space.
Extra counter space makes it easier to prepare food. Utilize the above strategies to increase the efficacy and efficiency of your kitchen.
