How to Bond with your Baby

Suddenly you have a new little person in your life. More than anything, you want to bond with him or her. There are many ways that you can connect with your little one to form a special bond that will last a lifetime.
Breastfeeding
Mothers may find the best way to bond with their newborns is to breastfeed. There is something very special about holding your baby so close while you are giving him or her the nutrients he or she needs to grow and develop. It is something special that only you can do with him or her. Of course, breastfeeding provides numerous other benefits to the child and mother such as brain development and lowered risk of infection.
Rocking
Both parents can enjoy simply holding the baby and rocking him or her while in a recliner or rocking chair. You can hold your baby very close so that you can share your warmth. A lot of parents love just holding the baby.
Infant massage
You can learn infant massage through a book, the Internet or a class. These gentle movements are very pleasing to babies, just like an adult likes a massage.
Mommy and me class
Take your baby to a mommy and me class where you can enjoy each other’s company. These classes involve many different things such as music, massage and movement. They offer these at schools, community centers and hospitals.
Singing
It doesn’t matter if you are not a world class opera singer; singing to your newborn is a very special activity. As you sing the lullabies that your parents or grandparents sang to you, you will feel very close to your baby. You child might find your songs to be very soothing.
Playing
Truly, all you might need to do to bond with your new baby is to spend time with him or her. Babies learn as others interact with them. It could be simply playing games such as peek-a-boo. It could be talking to him or her. You can play with different toys, but that is not even necessary. The biggest thing is that you are there. Make sure to give lots of hugs and hold your baby very close.
There is nothing like the bond between parent and child, and this should start from the very moment the child is born. Try a variety of different activities to bond with your little one.
