Reasonable and Beautiful Gemstones

(423 Words)
Just because you want an expensive jewelry look does not mean that you have to spend a lot of money. Some gemstones such as diamonds, rubies and emeralds are notoriously expensive. Unless you want a tiny stone with lots of inclusions you will be spending a lot. Other stones, however, are very reasonable, and you can get a large, clear and sparkly stone with little cost.
Amethyst
The purple amethyst is very pretty, plentiful and generally inexpensive. You will find attractive, high quality stones that are one carat or more for a fraction of the price of the precious stones. The purple can range in color from a very light shade to an extremely dark purple. This is the birthstone for February.
Citrine
Citrine in jewelry usually looks like a bright golden orange stone. It is very striking. You will sometimes find a ring with different shades of citrine. This stone is the November birthstone and works well for people who like warm colors.
Blue topaz
Blue topaz comes in many shades. It comes in the popular sky blue. You can get a London Blue Topaz, which is a darker shade of blue. You will also find many other types of topaz such as white topaz. That is sometimes substituted for diamonds.
Peridot
If you like the color green but cannot afford emeralds, you can choose a peridot instead. Peridots are generally a lighter green than emeralds. It is the August birthstone and is often seen in conjunction with other colored gemstones in a rainbow.
Smoky quartz
If you like dark stones, then consider getting something with smoky quartz. This is a deep brown-gray. It is very flattering on a lot of people and can be found in all different jewelry pieces.
Garnet
If you like dark red tones, but cannot get a ruby, then consider a garnet. It is darker than a ruby but has dark red undertones. These can be very brilliant.
Created gemstones
Another option is to get a created gemstone. This is a gemstone that is “grown” in a lab. Chemically, they are the same as natural gemstones, but they generally come out in very fine quality. They may be large, clear, sparkly and free of inclusions. You will often find these for the precious stones such as emerald, sapphire and ruby.
There are many different stones of all colors that look beautiful and, yet, will not break the bank like a precious stone. You will find jewelry pieces with all of these stones at jewelry and department stores.
