Waiting in a doctor’s office is not the most fun activity. Fortunately, there are a number of things that you can do in order to keep yourself occupied. Some of these are productive, others enjoyable and some are even both. Consider the following activities.
Look through the magazines
Many people choose to look through the magazine selection at their doctor’s office. They might enjoy to look through ones that they do not subscribe to. You will want to consider whether they have magazines and whether you enjoy them. Also, consider the type of doctor and whether you want to be touching the magazines that other patients have touched. If it is a general practitioner and a lot of people have colds then you might not want to handle them, for instance. If you are going to a psychiatrist, then you are probably okay.
Bring your own leisure book
A lot of people love to read mysteries, romance and all those other leisure books but simply do not have the time. They may feel guilty if they are doing that when they can be more productive. While you are waiting in a doctor’s office might be the perfect time since you are stuck there. Some people might prefer a non-fiction book.
There are other reading materials that you can bring as well. You might want to bring your own magazine. You also might want to bring a newspaper. Some people choose to be productive and bring reading material for work.
You can also bring an activity book. A lot of people love crossword puzzles and brainteasers. They sell many different types.
Bring a laptop for work or pleasure
You might want to bring your laptop with you. A lot of people now have mobile Internet access. You can surf the web, do your e-mail or write if you are a freelance writer. Even without Internet access, there is a lot you can do on a computer with different programs. Some people will even access the Internet through their smartphone.
Call someone
You might have someone that you needed to call and this can be the perfect time. Just make sure that you can quickly get off the phone when they call you in.
When deciding what to bring, make sure that it is easy to carry. If a newspaper will just get everywhere then you might want to choose something else. Also make sure that you do not forget it when they call you in. Consider the above ideas when deciding what to do.
