Cardio Kickboxing Classes

(448 Words)
A cardio kickboxing class combines general aerobics with kickboxing moves. It is a great way to get aerobic exercise, which reduces your risk of cancer, stroke and heart these. It is also typically a very intense class, and you should learn exactly what to expect before taking the class.
Most cardio kickboxing classes are the typical length of an aerobics class at about 45 to 60 minutes in length. Typically they start with a warmup and end with a cool down. This may be five to 10 minutes and include stretching and even some slower less intense kickboxing moves such as punches.
Generally the class goes to music like other cardio classes. The instructor will tell you which moves to do. Instead of just the general aerobics moves such as the grapevine, however, you will also do kickboxing moves.
There are many kickboxing moves that you might do. Upper body kickboxing includes boxing punches such as crosses, upper cuts, jabs, and hooks.
Of course you will do a lot of leg moves from kickboxing during the class. There are many different kicks that you might do, including roundhouse kicks, front kicks, sidekicks, back kicks and hitch kicks.
A cardio kickboxing class combines aerobics and kickboxing. For instance you might do a grapevine and then do three kicks and then another grapevine and three more kicks. You will do sequences with all different sorts of kicks. You will incorporate other aerobics features such as jumping jacks, squats and lunges. Typically the class is very fast-paced, moving from one routine to the next in rapid succession. It is usually easy to get your heart rate to go up very quickly and stay up at a constant rate.
The teacher will instruct you on form while you are doing the kickboxing moves. It is very important to do these right, because otherwise you could hurt yourself. You should pay close attention to the teacher to make sure that you do the moves right.
Like with other aerobics classes, you can usually tone down a kickboxing class if it is too difficult for you. For instance, if you find that a kick is too hard you might instead just march. The teacher will often give different options for those who cannot do the more difficult moves.
Cardio kickboxing classes help you burn a lot of calories. They can be difficult, however, especially for beginners. Take it slow, and make sure that you are doing the moves correctly. You may be sore afterwards when you’re just beginning. See if you can view a class at your local gym so that you can get a good idea of what to expect before you go.
