Many people who retire find that they miss the working world. Although they may not return to full time employment, some do seek out work for financial reasons, to give themselves something to do or just to pursue a particular interest. There are many jobs that would be good for after retirement, including the following.
Consultant
There are many different fields in which people can become a consultant instead of full time work. This might be very good for someone who is in a field that has consultants such as marketing and actuarial professionals. This can be great because you can only work a little if you want and you tend to make a nice per hour rate. You might be able to use your contacts from your past job to find some people who are not in need of full time employees in the particular field but instead consultants.
Teacher
A lot of people like to share knowledge and educate. After a long career, many people are well qualified to teach in a particular field. Obviously you will not get a job at a big college as a tenured professor if you do not have the proper degree/credentials, however there are different teaching jobs, which you may be able to attain. For instance, the more local colleges will hire people to teach a class or two who are professionals in a particular field. You can inquire with your local colleges to see what might be available.
Volunteer
A lot of people continue to work, only they do not get paid. Many enjoy volunteering after they retire, especially in areas where they can give back to the community and those in need. There are many different volunteer positions available, many of them interesting, fun and very important.
Freelance work
If you are in a field where you can do freelance work (or you have a new skill you wish to pursue) then this can be your new post-retirement job. There are many types of freelance positions, from writing to computers to photography to more. This might be something you could enjoy and make a little extra money.
Work at a museum/theater
Many people who are retired like to frequent the museum and/or theater. This might be a nice place for you to get a position.
If you wish to work after you have retired then you will have different positions to consider. The above jobs might just work for you.
