2319 Words: 408
You will have a lot of choices when it comes to a daycare. Different people will have different needs, so there is not necessarily one that will be best for everyone. There are certain things you may want to look for when choosing a daycare, and these can be especially important since you are putting your children into their hands. The following are some qualities you may want to consider.
The workers should be good with children
This should go without saying, but it is amazing at how many daycares have workers that are not especially great with children. They should know how to handle the children well, and not have to resort to screaming constantly. They should treat the children with respect, but also know how to be firm with them. The children should be happy under their care and do well. You can often tell when a person likes children and is good at caring for them. Look for these qualities in the workers at the daycare you choose.
There should be a high staff to children ratio
The more staff there is compared to the amount of children, the more personalized attention your child will receive. The daycares can vary wildly in this. There are minimums set forth by the government, but some daycares do much better than that. The more personalized it is, the better.
Look at the enriching activities they offer
Different daycares will have different enriching activities. Some daycares might be more like babysitters, letting the kids watch television and just play with toys. Others might go out of their way to provide healthy activities that teach the children and allow them to progress and grow. Obviously, the more enriching activities they offer, the better.
Make sure the hours work for you
Different daycares have different hours. You are going to want to make sure that they work for you. Some of them will offer an extended day for more money. Make sure to take this into account when making your decision.
Look at the price
Daycares can vary greatly in price. Obviously, this is not necessarily something you will want to go cheap on, so if you are paying more for a reason and you can afford it, then that is fine. Just be careful about paying a lot more when you are not getting anything more. You will obviously also need to look for one that is within your budget.
