You will have many choices when it comes to diaper bags. Going to a baby store such as Babies R Us, a general store such as Target or Wal-Mart or a department store, you will find your choice of different bags for you to consider. Different people will be looking for different things so there is no one diaper bag that will be the right one for everyone. The following are some attributes to look for when choosing a diaper bag.
The size that is right for you
Diapers bags range greatly in size. Some are very small, meant to just carry a few essentials, while others are gigantic, meant to carry a great amount of baby items. Many others fall in between these two amounts. Think about the size that is best for you. It is a trade-off. Obviously, it is nice to be able to carry a lot, but the bigger it is, the heavier and more cumbersome it will be. Even if you can carry a lot, it might not be good if it is too much of a hassle to carry around. Think about what you want to be able to fit in there, and plan accordingly. Also, think about where else it might need to fit in such as in the basket of a stroller or hanging from a stroller. Also, think about the shape. Some might be better or not as good at fitting in certain things because of their shapes.
Look at the pockets, compartments, etc
Many diaper bags have a lot of zippered compartments, pockets and so forth, which can make them convenient for you. Look through the different bags to see what works for what you need to carry. Some people like a lot of pockets to make it very organized. Other people might prefer one big area to put everything into.
Find a material and design you like
You will find many different designs and materials. Some might do better in the rain and be more durable. Some of the designs might be of cute characters such as Mickey Mouse or Winnie the Pooh. That might appeal to you. Get something that you will feel comfortable carrying around with you. Also think about who else will be carrying it (such as a husband) and make sure you get something that would work for them too.
Get something that is well made
You can often tell how well made something is by feeling it. A diaper bag may get a lot of use, and some of it might be rough. You want something that will last as long as possible.
