2405 Words: 440
Of all of the holiday clearance events, the after-clearance event after Christmas is the biggest by far. You will often find aisles of items, many immediately discounted 50% off the very day after Christmas. Deeper cuts will follow, with many stores such as Target going to 90% in the weeks after Christmas. It will be very tempting to rush right over to the stores to take advantage of these amazing sales, but there are things you will want to consider when doing such shopping. The following are some tips for shopping after-Christmas clearance.
Buy immediately for the best selection; wait for the better discounts
You will have your best selection of items on December 26. Many people will line up at shops before they open, anxious to be the first to get in to choose from the reduced priced wares. The sooner you go, the more items you will be able to choose from. This comes with a trade-off, however. Many stores will continue to discount their items as the days and weeks progress. Of course, a lot of items will get snapped up, but the remaining products might go to 60%, 75% or even 90% off. You need to think about what you need versus how much you are willing to pay for the items. Many people will go again and again so as to give themselves the best of both worlds.
Think about what you truly need
Many of us buy and buy and buy without thinking about whether we truly need something. When faced with the massive amount of good deals you will see in an after-Christmas clearance, you may want to do your best to avoid temptation to get things that you will just throw in a closet and never use. Of course, many of the items will be useful, and you can consider that, but don’t overbuy.
Consider how much room you have to store the items
You will also want to consider the space that you have in order to store the items. Some of the items take up a lot of room, and they can add up as you buy more and more of them.
Look in different areas of the store
Some places will consolidate their clearance into one area while others will have it scattered about the store. You can ask to find places where clearance items might be hiding in less noticeable locations. You might be able to get something great that no one snapped up yet because it wasn’t as noticeable.
You can save a lot of money with after-Christmas clearance. Consider the above tips when making your purchases.
