The sun is strong, and many people do not realize how quickly it can burn your skin, leading to a painful sunburn that is very unhealthy. Many people do not realize that you can get a sunburn in the winter, when it is cloudy and even when it is raining. Fortunately, there are things that you can do to minimize the chances of this. The following are techniques for avoiding a sunburn while visiting Disney World.
Wear sunscreen
This is probably the best thing that you can do. Wearing sunscreen cuts down on your risk of sunburn significantly. When you go to the store, you will be faced by many different choices of sunscreens, with different basic ingredients. You can do research to find out what is best for you but you want to get a decent SPF. You can get 15 but 30 is better and the stronger ones offer even more protection. The Walgreens spray sport is a highly rated one. Sunscreens come in lotions and now in sprays so it is very convenient to just spray it on yourself and be done. If you stay out all day, then you should probably reapply to make sure that you stay protected.
Stay in the shade
As much as possible, stay in the shade at Disney World. If you are outside at a show, try to find a shady spot under a tree. If you are waiting outside of a ride for someone then find somewhere under an awning. You can still get sun in the shade, however it is less.
Wear protective clothing
They now make clothing that specifically shields you from the sun and has an SPF rating. You might want to consider that. Some rays can get through some clothing.
Wear a hat
It isn’t a substitute for sunscreen, but a hat can help protect your face and your neck if is large enough. Choose a hat with a wide brim or with extra material going down the back of your neck. They also make these that have an SPF rating.
Use an umbrella
An umbrella can help shield the sun’s rays. You will probably be more comfortable as well because it will keep you in the shade.
