This might be a lot of fun for him to try and he might discover new and interesting foods that he would not have tried otherwise. Of course, you could also make it a gift basket of homemade foods if you want to put forth the effort to do this.

If you really want to get him something that he can use, then you can pick a store or restaurant that he likes and get him a gift card to it. Many people do not want to give their parents money, but the same stigma does not apply to gift cards. If you know that he frequents a certain establishment, then you know that it will get use.

If there is nothing tangible that you can think of to get for your father, then you could get him some sort of gift of experience. It could be a night out at his favorite restaurant. It could be a show such as a concert or a play that he would like to see or even a sporting event. If you want something more extravagant you can even send him on a vacation. It could be an inexpensive camping trip to go on for a weekend or a weeklong cruise to the Caribbean. These take up no room and are great experiences to remember forever.

Your father might enjoy some sort of membership somewhere. For instance, if he likes a museum, then there might be a museum that you can get him a membership to. You could consider places like zoos or even a gym. These can be expensive, so just make sure that it is somewhere that he will frequent.
