It is very important to try to prevent the spread of H1N1 in schools. There are many people in close quarters and some schools have gotten it so badly that they actually needed to shut down the schools for a time. There are many people who can help prevent the spread of H1N1 in schools, and the parents of the students can be an important part of this. The following are ways in which parents can help prevent the spread of H1N1 in schools.
Do not send your child to school if they are sick
One of the biggest steps you can take is to not send your child to school if they are sick. Unless you get your child tested, it can be very difficult to ascertain whether they have the H1N1 virus or another sickness altogether. For many people the H1N1 is not that serious, and it may not be bad enough that the parent feels that he or she needs to take her child to the doctor.
Even if you do not take your child to the doctor, you might want to avoid sending them to school if there is a chance that they do have the H1N1 virus. No matter what, you can help prevent the child from spreading whatever illness he or she has.
Lower the chances of your child getting the sickness by getting him or her vaccinated
You can lower the chance of your child getting sick by getting him or her the vaccine. The vaccine, which comes in both a dead virus injection form and a weakened virus nasal spray form can significantly cut down the chances of your child getting it.
Obviously the more children at the school who are vaccinated, the more difficult it will be for the H1N1 virus to spread. A lot of school districts are actually giving the children vaccinations right in school with the parents’ permission. Unless you have some reason to object, you may want to allow this to happen so that your child is protected.
Teach your child the ways to help prevent the spread of the condition
It is important to teach your child how to avoid getting sick. For instance, simply washing your hands can go a long way to helping keep germs from spreading. They may not want to get too close to others who are sick. They may want to keep things clean by using cleaners.
There are many things that parents can do in order to help prevent the spread of H1N1 in schools. They should consider the above tips to help them accomplish this.
