Choosing Wedding Day Shoes

(441 Words)
You want to look absolutely perfect on your wedding day. Most of the attention may be on the wedding dress; however, the shoes are extremely important as well. Consider the following factors when choosing your shoes.
Look
Look at the different styles of shoes to find out what looks best on you and what conveys the look you want for your wedding. Consider how much of your shoe will be showing under your dress. If you have a very fancy dress, then you might want a more fancy shoe; likewise a simple shoe may look best with a simple dress.
Matching
You want your shoes to match the dress, both in color and style. Some stores will dye your shoes so that they match your dress exactly. Bring your dress with you when shoe shopping or buy shoes that you can return so that you can see how they look together. Also you may want certain elements of each to match. If you have a dress with crystals, then you can look for a shoe with them as well.
Comfort
You want to be comfortable on your wedding day. No matter how great your shoes look, you will not be happy if you are limping around your wedding reception. Likewise, you do not want to go on a honeymoon with blisters all over your feet. Try on the shoes in the store and walk around in them. Walk around in them at home. If they hurt, choose something else. Some brides even bring a second pair of shoes for the reception that are more comfortable.
Height
Consider how tall you want to be at the wedding. You might want to lengthen yourself or alternatively choose flats because they are much more comfortable.
Price
You do not have to spend a lot of money to get a beautiful pair of shoes. If you go to a bridal store, you will probably spend a lot; however you can get appropriate shoes at many different sources. If budget is an issue, then look around.
Quality
Of course you want the shoe to last into the night. Check the quality of the shoe. Make sure that it appears solid and that it won’t fall apart on you.
Don’t be afraid to think “outside the box.” Some people buy a traditional wedding dress but then buy shoes to show a little flair. For instance, a bride might choose white cowboy boots for fun. The most important thing is to spend a lot of time looking around at the different shoes available to you. Try on as many as you need until you find the perfect pair.
