It is one of the biggest shopping days of the entire year. Black Friday may scare a lot of people with its immense crowds and long lines, yet it can be worth it since many stores offer their best sales on this day. Heed the tips in this for shopping on November 26, 2010 in this 2010 Black Friday Survival Guide.
Prepare
The first thing you will want to do to survive Black Friday is to prepare for it. You can get the ads in the newspaper in advance of the shopping day, and most of the big stores will showcase some of their best deals. You should go through those and circle any of the items that you want to buy. Also make a plan as far as which stores you are going to go to first. Decide whether it is worth it to go to a store if there is very little there that you want.
Get there early
There are many reasons to get to the stores early on Black Friday 2010. First it will be easier to park. In some malls, parking can literally run out and you may be circling for a while until you are lucky enough to catch someone that is coming out. Another reason is that many items are in short supply during Black Friday. In some cases they may just have a few (or even one) of a particular item and if you do not get there very early then you will miss out. Also a lot of stores have special sales that actually end in the morning. They may go until ten or eleven for instance. You want to get all of the deals that you can.
In some cases you will want to be at the store before it even opens. If you know that you will be waiting for a while, then make sure that you bring whatever you need to make your wait easier. You might want to bring some food with you because remember that many of the food courts in the malls will be busy as well. Some people even bring their own little chairs with them! You may be waiting outside so be sure to keep a jacket or something else to keep warm.
Sometimes you may want to purposely avoid a store right when it opens if there is no one thing that you are rushing there for. Some of the stores are very hectic right when they open but again some items may run out so you have to balance that. Also as it gets later in the morning it usually starts to get busier.
Give yourself plenty of time
Shopping during Black Friday is not like shopping during other days. You are likely to face huge crowds and long lines. You should give yourself a lot of time so that you do not feel rushed. Try not to plan so many stores that you can’t make the ones you really want to go to.
Black Friday can be a great day to shop. Consider the above tips for shopping for the 2010 holidays.
