There are many benefits that are offered to employees. This will range depending on the company, the types of position and the characteristics of the employees. The following are some common benefits.
Health insurance
Many employees will not even consider an employer that does not offer health insurance. This can protect someone in the case that they get sick, save them money, and protect them from financial ruin if a medical emergency arises. There are many different health plans that you can offer to your employees, and what will be available will depend on how many employees you have and the type of coverage you are looking for. Some companies offer their employees a choice, such as having an HMO and a PPO available to them. You can also decide if you want this to be available right away to new employees or whether there will be a waiting period. Many times new employees have to wait three months for the insurance. Companies will also often offer prescription drug coverage with the health insurance. You can decide how much you want to contribute to the premium for the health insurance.
Dental insurance
Many employers also offer dental insurance. Dental procedures can be very expensive, thus this is very desirable for a lot of employees. As with health insurance plans, you will have different choices with this as there are many different plans from which to choose.
Life insurance
You may offer your employees the opportunity to purchase life insurance. Many professionals with families like to have this to protect their loved ones.
Vision insurance
A lot of people have glasses or contact lenses. Vision insurance can help pay for some of these costs and may be a benefit that you offer to your employees.
Retirement funds
A lot of people contribute to different retirement funds. In many companies they will match a certain amount of money. Other organizations will have a pension fund built up for the employees. This can help the employees as they are looking towards the future.
Miscellaneous benefits
There are many other miscellaneous benefits that you might see. They may let employees purchase stock in the company for very reasonable. They may give you a health club membership or use of a company gym. Some will give free childcare. Others will give an employee discount for their products. Before considering any job, make sure that you know all of the benefits available.
