There is no right or wrong when it comes to deciding whether you should dress twins alike. Instead, you should consider the various advantages and disadvantages to decide whether it is for you.
One advantage is that it is extremely adorable. Many moms just love to see their little twins dress exactly the same. Remember that when the kids are older they probably will not want to dress alike. Therefore, if you want to see them in the same outfits, you might want to do it while they are babies and toddlers when they will let you dress them. You will probably also get a lot of “oohs” and “ahhs;” so if you like attention, dressing them alike can be a great way to get it.
It also looks great to dress the twins alike when they will be in pictures. This can be both for professional pictures but also for everyday pictures you snap with your camera or phone.
It may also be easier to keep track of your kids when they are dressed alike. For instance, you can just look for a neon pink shirt and see both of them. If you will be in a busy place, this can make it easier to watch them.
One negative is that you will probably spend more money on clothing. You will need two of the outfits, including expensive ones. If you see an outfit you like, you might double your purchase even if you do not actually need that much clothing. Also, it will be more difficult for people to buy gifts. They will also have to buy for two at the same time if you truly always dress them alike.
The kids may not like it. Even young children can get fussy about what they want to wear. They might want to wear different things or simply not want to dress alike.
You also might want the twins to have their own clothing to fit their own personalities. You may feel that dressing them alike does not help them develop their own identities. You want them to be seen as two different people, not as one.
If they are identical, wearing the same clothing will make it harder for others to tell them apart. Obviously, close relatives can usually tell; however, when you go out you may help others discern them by what outfit they are wearing that particular day. You can’t do that if they are wearing the same thing every day.
