You may have a need to ship shoes at some point. Of course you do not want them coming out flattened or damaged, thus you should take the proper precautions to avoid this. Consider the following tips.
Make sure that they have plenty of wrapping around them
No matter what you are putting them into, you want to make sure that the shoes are wrapped well, especially if they are more delicate such as thin heels. You can get some bubble wrap that is specifically made to protect items. You can even just use newspapers if you want to save money and you think that it will be sufficient based on the type of shoes that they are. You can use Styrofoam chips or the other forms of packaging materials out there. Also, a lot of shoes come with something in them to help them keep their form. You may want to leave those in if you have them to help the shoes stay well while they are shipping.
Decide what you want to ship them in
There are many different boxes that you can get to ship shoes in. Of course, some people just choose to ship them in the shoebox that they came in. Whether or not you should do this will depend on different factors. First consider how hard the shoebox is and how well it will protect the shoes as they are being shipped. Some boxes are made of thick cardboard whereas others are much thinner. You do not want it to rip or come apart while it is in transit. Otherwise you can place it into another shipping box, although you can also consider putting the entire shoebox in for an added layer of protection. No matter which type of box you use, you will want to make sure to tape it thoroughly closed. You can get some thick packaging tape and make sure that everything is very tight. Remember that packages are not always given the white glove service.
Label everything
Make sure that the destination address is very clearly written out, as is a return address in case it does not go through. In addition, you may want to write “Fragile” on it so that people will hopefully be a little more careful.
Decide what service to use
Next you are ready to take it to the location for shipping. Many people will use the United States Postal Service, which offers a wide variety of shipping choices. You can overnight it, send it via priority mail, or if you don’t need it there very fast, choose a slower service. Costs will vary based on the weight and shipping time. You will also have the choice of other services such as tracking, insurance and signature required, and you can decide on these based on the value of the shoes and your comfort level. You can also choose to ship it through another service such as UPS.
You want your shoes to go through the mail safe and sound. Consider the above tips for shipping these items.
