Educational Vacations Southeastern United States

The Southeastern United States offers a variety of excellent destinations for an educational vacation. Consider your budget, the focus of what you want to learn and the advantages and disadvantages of the different destinations when making your decision.
There are a number of attractions in the Orlando, Florida, area that offer an educational benefit. EPCOT Center, which is a Walt Disney World Theme Park, offers many opportunities for learning. For instance, Spaceship Earth is an exhibit that brings you on an animated tour of the past and future of communication, transportation and technology. This slow moving ride brings you past animated figures that act out some of the most important advances in technology such as the printing press and television. It shows how communication started from the earliest of cave drawings to the promises of computer technology of the future. You learn about history because you feel like you are in it.
The Living Seas is another excellent attraction in EPCOT Center. You can learn about sea life through rides and interactive consoles. It is taught in a fun way, with the Disney character Nemo. You can see a SCUBA demonstration as well.
There are a number of other educational attractions and rides in EPCOT. A variety of countries have exhibits in their World Showcase. With traditional buildings and food, you will feel like you are in these exotic countries as you walk through them. Countries include China, Japan, Canada and Norway. They are staffed by people from those areas, and there are a number of exhibits for each. For instance, Norway has a boat ride and a show that showcase the country’s livelihood of the water. Canada has a 360 degree video that shows breathtaking views of the country.
The South Florida area includes Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach and surrounding areas. There are many educational attractions within this area. You can visit the Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science. Watch an IMAX movie about sea life or animals. They have a large exhibit on aviation where you can learn how planes fly. A ride makes you feel like you are on a space mission. They show different fish and plant life as well.
You can also learn about animals at Lion Country Safari in Palm Beach. Take a driving tour through the lands of Africa and Asia and see lions, elephants, giraffes and more in their natural habitat. Feed a giraffe. Learn about reptiles. Go on a boat ride and watch monkeys.
There are many great places where you can take an educational vacation in the Southeastern United States. The Orlando and South Florida areas offer great opportunities for this.
