A great use for a bulletin board is to utilize it to display student work. There are many ways that you can do this, and of course some of it will depend on the size of the work as well as how many you have. Consider the following ideas.
Hang them up with clothespins
You might not want to put any holes in the children’s work by stapling them to the board. One nice idea is to put up clothespins (or alternatively binder clips) in order to hang the children’s work. You can decorate the clothespins with markers, crayons, paints, glitter, etc. so that they are colorful and pretty. You can use one or two to hang each, depending on the size of the piece.
Book of the children’s work
If you have a lot of work to put up – more than would fit in the space – you can make your bulletin board so that it is like a big book, with pages that turn. On the sides of the pages, you can attach the different pieces of work by the students.
Hang them with stickers
One cute idea is to use stickers to hang the pieces of work. You might only want to do this if the stickers will peel off relatively easily and not damage the student’s work. You can get something that goes along with the theme of the work. For instance, if the children drew pictures of the solar system, then use stickers that are related to astronomy.
Framed work like it is a gallery
You can pretend that your bulletin board is an art gallery and the children’s work are the masterpieces. You can make up paper “frames” to go around the children’s works. You can even go to the dollar store and pick out some real frames to put up there (which would make a great gift for the children to take home or you can keep it for the next batch of work)! All of the frames can be standard rectangular frames or you can get some that are circular or other shapes for variety. You can place them all up there, one next to each other and decorate the rest of the wall like it is an art gallery.
Displaying student work on a bulletin board can give the children something to be proud of. Consider the above ideas for showcasing such work.
