Features to look for in a High Chair

Not all high chairs are created equal. There are a wide variety of features, which can make them easier to use, more practical and more attractive. Of course, these are often related to an increase in price. You may want the following features.
Five point harness
Many of the traditional high chairs only have a three point seatbelt. This describes a seatbelt that goes around the waist with an extra strap through the legs. Some are even less secure with just the belt around the waist. A great feature of some of the newer models is to have a full five point harness. In addition to the straps around the waist and through the legs, two straps come down over the shoulders to attach to the bottom straps. These can be much more secure, stopping a child from climbing out who would have already been able to vacate the high chair on his or her own. It can also provide additional support for the child, useful for a younger infant.
Recline
Many babies start to eat food and sit in high chairs before they can sit in a chair. A traditional high chair that only allows the baby to sit up might not provide the support that they need. Many of the newer high chairs offer recline settings. A lot of them offer several of levels of recline. They often curve inward to provide more of a seat that is suitable for younger babies. These may be more comfortable and safer for infants who cannot yet sit.
Additional trays
A nice feature of many of the new high chairs is to have additional trays that attach to the high chair. These will often snap in and out and be dishwasher safe. It can make it much easier to clean.
One hand tray
It can be quite difficult to juggle a baby in one hand and handle the tray in the other. Some specifically make it that you can use one hand to lift the tray so that you can more easily get the baby in.
Wheels
Many people do not keep their high chair in one spot, but instead wheel it about to different spots. Wheels can make it much easier to do this.
Extra padding
A lot of the high chairs provide the greatest and latest in comfort for the baby. They may have extra cushions to provide the baby with a soft place to be. A lot of them also easily come off and are machine washable for added convenience.
Storage space
High chairs can take up a lot of room. Some of them actually provide their own storage. For instance, they may have an area on the bottom where you can store items you may need for feeding such as bibs or spoons.
