Using a weight machine is very easy. A novice can usually do it without needing a personal trainer to explain it to them. You may feel that you need a lot more help if you’re using free weights.
A weight machine will allow you to get through your routine quicker. When you’re using free weights, you might have to spend a lot of time changing out your weights and figuring out what is best for you. If you are using a weight machine then you will just use one after another after taking a second to select the proper weight. They are also good for people who are getting over an injury because you can work one muscle easily.
One advantage of free weights are that they are more applicable to real-world situations because you move many different muscles. When you do a weight machine it can be so isolated that you may see a difference mostly in that exact type of situation.
There are also some issues regarding free weights and weight machines that go beyond actually working out with them. Some people need to consider the cost, for instance. You’ll spend far less for free weights than you will for a weight machine. Another issue is the storage space, if you’re working out in your home and not a gym. It is very easy to store free weights, but takes much more room to store a weight machine.
There are both advantages and disadvantages to working out with free weights and a weight machine. Consider what works the best for you. Remember that this may change as time goes on as many people start with weight machines and then progress to free weights.
