Great Exercises for the whole Family

It is important for the entire family to exercise. Exercise keeps people at a healthy weight and lowers the chances of multiple conditions and diseases. It is good when children learn the importance of exercising when they are very young because then they might be more likely to continue do it in the future.
Exercising as a family provides many benefits. It will help you get your regular exercise and can even be a bonding activity that you can do together. There are many types of exercises that the whole family can do.
Jogging
As long as you do not have very young children, jogging can be a great activity for the family to do together. You can do this in a beautiful park and do not need any special equipment. Obviously it does not cost any money. Many people live near paths that would work well for jogging. You can get in good cardio exercise that is good for your heart.
Fitness DVD
You can do a fun fitness DVD in the house with your entire family if you have enough room. Choose a fitness DVD that works for everyone. There are many DVDs that have music and can be enjoyable for everyone. Also, with many of the DVDs, different people can do the routine differently depending on their fitness level. Obviously this is done in the privacy of your own home so if anyone wants to stop the rest can continue.
Sports
You can also play a fun sport with your family. If you are looking to get aerobic exercise, make sure you do something that keeps your heart rate up at an elevated level. You might try a fun game of flag football. You could play soccer together or shoot hoops on a basketball court. There are a wide variety of games that you could play. You can also play paddleball, volleyball or handball.
Swimming
During the warmer months or if there is a nearby heated or indoor pool, you can swim as a family together. Swimming laps gets great cardio exercise. Obviously, make sure that all children are supervised properly. This may work with older children.
Biking
The entire family can go bicycling together. Depending on how you do it, you may or may not get your heart rate up. However, this is a fun and active activity that can be done with each other.
The exact exercises a family can do together will depend on the fitness level of the different members of the family as well as the ages of the children. Consider the above exercises and whether they will work well for your family. Try a variety of different exercises to vary the workout routine and make it more interesting.
