: Hand me Downs how to Store Clothes for a Younger Child

:
(424 Words)
Hand-me-downs can save a parent with multiple children a significant amount of money. There is often an age gap between the children, however, and you may need to store the clothing before you give them to your younger child. You should follow some simple tips for doing this.
Make sure that the clothing is clean and dry before you store it
No matter how or where you are going to store the clothing you want it to be clean and dry. When something is dirty it may attract bugs or the stain may end up spreading to other clothing. If it is wet, even just damp, it can end up getting mold, and then you can have a big problem.
Decide where you are going to store them
The available space you have may dictate where you are going to store the clothing. No matter where it is it should be clean and dry as well. If the area is dirty then the clothing could get ruined. Make sure it is free of bugs that could affect textiles. You obviously do not want any pets or other animals to get to it.
For some the most ideal place to store the clothing is in the younger child’s room. If you have the room in there despite his or her current clothing, then this will save you having to move them. You might choose to hang them or put them in drawers or in the closet.
Other people choose to store the clothing in a garage or a basement. Some may get a storage space. Make sure that the clothing is properly protected from their environment such as in hard containers.
Fold the hand-me-downs neatly
Wherever you are storing them you want them to be folded neatly. They will take up more room if they are crumpled and you will end up with a wrinkled mess when you are ready to use them.
Consider space bags
Space bags are a wonderful option for storing clothing that will be handed down to your younger children. You put them in special plastic bags and then suck out the air, which reduces their size considerably. Clothing that would have taken up much more space in something like garbage bags can now use far less. These come in different sizes and can be purchased on the Internet.
With proper care you can successfully store hand-me-downs for younger children. This can save you a great deal of money and let you get more use out of the clothing you love.
