How to Create a Weekly House Cleaning Checklist

You may find it easier to keep track of your cleaning if you make a weekly house cleaning checklist. There is no one list that will be suitable for everyone since it will depend on your cleaning needs. The following steps can help you create such a checklist.
First you need to decide exactly what tasks need to be done. You should break these into tasks that should be done on a daily basis, tasks that should be done several times a week and tasks that will be done every single day. You want to be as specific with these chores as you can so that you can remember what they are. Of course, you may have the same area cleaned with a different amount of cleaning at different times. For instance, every day you might wipe down the bathroom counter but then you may give the bathroom a deep cleaning once a week. Some of the chores that you may want to include are dishes, vacuuming, straitening up, cleaning the bathroom, dusting, sweeping, laundry and mopping.
You can physically make your weekly house cleaning checklist in different ways. Some will just type it into a word processor. You may find that is useful to use a spreadsheet program such as excel. You can also just do it freehand on a piece of paper. You will probably not want to write a specific date into it because you want to be able to use the same sheet every week. You can instead write out the days of the week at the top, from Sunday through Saturday. You can put a space at the top for you to write in the date if you wish.
On the left side write out all of the different tasks. To the right of the task you can put a box under any day that the task should be done. For instance, if it is mopping and you want to do it every day, then you can put in seven boxes to the right of it. If it is vacuuming and you just want to do it once a week on Wednesday then you can put the box just under that day of the week. You could also have a column at the end where you can put a box if it just needs to get done sometime in the week but it does not matter when.
Once you have finished your weekly house cleaning checklist, you can print out or photocopy many copies. As you fulfill the activities, check them off so that you know what you have done and what remains.
