Many people spend a significant amount of money every month on groceries. A 25% decrease can make a large difference in your monthly expenditures, which can add up nicely over time. There are many different strategies that can help you realize this goals.
Cut your budget
Some people are very strict with their grocery expenditures and planning. They may make an exact budget and consider all of the items that they wish to purchase. You can go through your budget, trying to eliminate 25% of the cost. Of course that does not mean you have to be hungry 25% of the time. However you might be able to cut more expensive foods in lieu of less expensive foods. If you find that you are throwing out some food then perhaps you can freeze some, which saves you from buying more. Try different strategies until you get the savings that you want.
Switch to store brand items
Oftentimes store brand items can save you 25% or even more. With some such as over the counter medications, you might literally pay a fraction of the price for the store brand item and get something that works just as well. They offer these across a wide variety of products.
Look to lees expensive stores
Oftentimes there is a 25% difference or more when you consider the more expensive stores compared to those that are less expensive. For instance, Costco has many groceries that cost far less than the traditional grocery stores. Target also has full or partial supermarkets as part of many stores and, they are often a lot less. You can also buy from the Internet at places like www.amazon.com.
Look for sales
Many stores offer sales that are 25% off or more. For instance, Public Supermarkets, located in Florida, Georgia and other states, offer sales that are buy one, get one free. Obviously this can cut 50% of the cost. You can stock up on these items to extend the savings. Many stores offer a variety of sales throughout their stores.
Coupons
Grocery coupons are frequent, and will often be 25% or more off of the price of the item. Some stores double them. You can find these in newspapers and mailers.
Buy in larger quantities
You often same per unit if you buy larger packages. Look for these savings.
It might not be one of the above measures but a combination of them that can give you the 25% grocery budget reduction for which you are looking. You should keep careful track of your grocery expenditures and keep cutting until you find the combination that works for you.
