As soon as you get the wedding proposal, the first thing you might want to do is to run out and buy that wedding gown. However, this is not always the right decision. The following are tips on how to decide how far in advance to buy your wedding gown.
Are you planning on losing weight?
Many brides go on diets to try to lose weight before their big day. Different wedding gowns flatter different body types. Some might look much better or worse on you depending on how much you weigh. If you think that you will be making a significant change in weight then you might want to wait a little longer to get your dress. You course they can do alterations to change the size a little bit but if you just lose a lot of weight, then it can be a problem.
How often do you change your mind?
If you are the type of person who changes your mind a lot, then you might want to wait a little to buy your dress. For instance, there have been many brides who have found the dress of their dreams, or so they thought. They bought it many months or perhaps years before the big day but then as time passed, they decided they didn’t like it anymore. Styles change and new things come out. These are not inexpensive items. If you think that you will easily change your mind, you might want to give it a little more time.
How picky are you?
You might feel like it will take you a long time to find your dress. You might have difficulty making a decision. You do not want to have to feel rushed, thus if you think you want to scour every bridal store in the area and try every dress within them, give yourself more time.
Dresses can take a while to come in
Wedding gowns can sometimes take months to arrive. Many of these are custom ordered. You might want to call around to the stores in your area to get an idea of how long they take to come in, but it will also depend on the manufacturer. You want to give yourself enough time so you will be able to get the dress you choose. Also, remember that you will need time to do alterations. Sometimes people need several fittings so give yourself enough time for this.
You want to wear the wedding gown of your dreams. Think about all of the above factors to come up with a compromise time that is the best time to buy your dress.
