: How to Entertain the Children when it Rains during Summer Vacation

Pitter-patter, goes the rain outside as your children press their noses against a frosty window. Not to worry. Just because it is raining does not mean that you cannot do a great summer vacation activity. Consider the following ideas.
Board games
Board games are a lot of fun, and they can be educational as well. There are many different board games, and these are made for children of all ages. They even make some board games that can be competitively played by children and adults together such as a Trivial Pursuit game that has more difficult questions for the adults and easier questions for the children. There are many different games from which to choose, including Monopoly, Scrabble, Chutes and Ladders and more.
Scavenger hunt
A fun activity to put together for your children during a rainy summer day is to make a scavenger hunt. You can put together clues and have them search for items all over the house. This can be fun for them and improve their reasoning skills. You can have little prizes for when they finish the game.
Movie theater in the house
You can make your own movie day in the house. You can turn off the lights, make popcorn and watch a new movie or a classic favorite.
Make your own play or talent show
You and your children can create a theatrical masterpiece. This might work best for younger children. Depending on their age, you can have them do it themselves or you can do it with them. They can show off their dancing skills or you can even create your own little play.
Dance party
You can have a dance party with your kids. Get some fun music to listen to and jump around the house. You can also get everyone dressed up in fancy outfits.
Craft day
There are many crafts that are good for children of different ages. Young kids can color. There are many kits that you can keep in the house for use during such a day. In addition, you can buy many books that have craft projects to be made with common household items and some common craft supplies like construction paper, glue, scissors, pipe cleaners, etc.
Just because it is a rainy summer day doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun. Of course you could always go out and do an inside activity like a video arcade. If it is not lightning and the rain is light you can even put on your raincoats and splash around a little. They will only be kids once.
