How to get Picky Eaters to Eat Vegetables

With cancer and disease fighting vitamins and minerals, vegetables are extremely healthy for children and adults alike. Of course, there are many picky eaters that do not like to eat their vegetables. Try the following strategies to include these all-important foods in the diets of those who resist.
Put them in cooked dishes
A lot of people will never eat a raw vegetable, however there are many dishes that can turn an ordinary vegetable into something special. For instance, you can make a vegetable lasagna with a wide variety of the healthiest vegetables such as spinach and broccoli. Covered with his or her favorite sauce, a picky eater might not mind the vegetables as they enjoy the meal. Sometimes simply cooking vegetables in a little oil can bring out their taste beautifully. There are many delicious stir fries, stews, casseroles, quiches and other meals in which vegetables play a big part. Experiment with different recipes to see if you can find something that your picky eater enjoys.
You can also make them a hidden ingredient in a recipe. There have been several recent cookbooks with the aim of hiding healthy ingredients in dishes so that you cannot even taste them. They may even put them in a dessert! If the person cannot taste them then you might not even need to reveal their presence.
Put the vegetables in a drink
Drinking vegetables can be just as healthy as eating them. A lot of picky eaters might not mind a drink that has vegetables as an ingredient, especially if you sweeten it with ingredients such as fruit or yogurt.
Give the vegetables with dip
It is not a coincidence that many vegetable trays come with a dip. A lot of people do not like plain vegetables but do not mind them if they can dip them. This can even often work with kids who are picky eaters. You can also turn it around and make the dip out of vegetables and give them something like crackers or bread to dip.
Educate them
Sometimes the best way to get a picky eater to eat vegetables is to get them to understand how truly important it is. Eating vegetables can not only help you live healthier, but it can let you live longer. Also, promote vegetables as something delicious. Do not make it like a punishment (i.e. when you eat your vegetables then you can get dessert). That is setting up the dessert as the reward for getting through the bad thing – the vegetables. Praise people when they eat the vegetables so that they feel good about themselves.
It is important for picky eaters to eat their vegetables, and the earlier they do so the more likely they may be to adopt it as a habit for life. The above techniques may start them on the path to healthy eating.
