In today’s difficult job market, there are some who become desperate in the search for a part-time job. Some of them choose less than ideal actions, while others turn it into an opportunity. Consider the following.
It can make them depressed
Desperation can make some part-time job seekers depressed. They may be very upset at their situations and not know how to handle it. If you feel that you are in this situation, then you should take the steps to make yourself feel better, such as seeking help from a counselor.
They do unscrupulous things
Sometimes part-time job seekers will actually become less moral than they were before and do immoral things to try to secure a job. For instance, they may add untrue but attractive points to their resume. They may lie about their education or experience. They may just write down what the other person wants to hear. They may get a diploma from a diploma mill even though they know that it is not really worth anything. These tactics often backfire on people because there is a good chance they can be found out and then the reputation can follow them.
Unfortunately, other people will do even more unscrupulous things to get money. They might steal from someone, for instance.
They become more creative to help themselves make it through
For some being desperate in looking for a part-time job can actually open up new opportunities if the person is creative and turns a bad situation into a good one. For instance, if they have always wanted to be a writer, then might use the opportunity while they are not working and looking for a part-time job to looking for freelance writing opportunities such as those presented on Helium. They might also start thinking about other fields that they might be interested in and which could be easier for them to find that part-time opportunity that they seek.
Some people will also turn the desperation around to improve themselves and make it more likely that they will get a job. They may take a few classes or study the subject to try to be more attractive to potential employers. They may widen their job search and learn about how to interview to increase their chances.
It is difficult when a part-time job seeker becomes desperate over the situation. They will then have the choice to use these feelings in a negative way or to turn it around to find a new way for them to do okay.
