Losing weight is extremely difficult. It is even harder to do it alone. Fortunately, there are a number of places where you can go to get support for this important journey.
Weight loss buddy
One great place to get support is through a weight loss buddy. If you can, find someone to go through this journey with you. You can lean on each other and help motivate each other from the start. You might even find a group, such as a group of people from your job.
Online
There are many great sources of support online. You can look for a bulletin board or a chat room. Some of these are free whereas others charge a membership fee. Make sure that you do not fall for one that is a scam to get you to pay for a weight loss plan you do not need.
Personal trainer or dietician
You can employ the services of a personal trainer dietician to help you lose weight. He or she can help you learn the right ways to eat and exercise to reach your weight loss goals. Your own physician may have some material for you as well.
Weight loss program
There are a wide variety of weight loss programs that offer support. You might have a coach or go to meetings with others to try to lose weight. Of course try to find a healthy program that offers a balanced way of eating such as Weight Watchers. Stay away from fad diets.
Support groups
There are many support groups for losing weight across the country. These may occur at hospitals. Look online to see what is available near your area.
Loved one
You can look to get support from a loved one to help you lose weight. Many spouses, parents, children and other family members and friends would be happy to support someone in this role. Talk to them first about whether they would like to do this.
You could also buddy up with someone who has a goal to reach even if it is not a weight loss goal. For instance, perhaps someone else needs to get his or her finances in order. He or she could be accountable to you for sticking to a budget while you could be responsible for sticking to the diet. Each of you could set goals and motivate each other.
There are many places to find support for losing weight. Get support from various places so you are not totally dependent on one person.
