How to know what Back to School Supplies your Child needs
It can be difficult to decide what back to school supplies your child needs. Most people do not want to waste money on items that ultimately do not get used, thus you will want to find out what is necessary before you buy. Consider the following methods.
Get a list from the school or teacher
A lot of schools and teachers will give out a list of school supplies that the children need before the first day. This is convenient because then you can get everything before school starts. The school will sometimes list this on their website. Sometimes they will send it out in a package to the parents. If they have not sent anything, then you might want to inquire with the school, and they might be able to steer you in the right direction. Sometimes local stores will even have these lists or sell a package with everything included. Sometimes you can buy such a package from the school itself.
Wait for the first day of school
Sometimes it is just best to wait until the first day of school. The child should be able to ascertain from the teacher at that point what is required. You can go out that very day and buy all of the supplies so the child will only be without it for a single day. You can ask that your child bring you back a list so that you have it. A lot of times this is something the teacher will hand out on the first day of school.
Try to find out from others who were at the school
If this is not your first year at this school then you might know what school supplies are generally required. Many supplies are almost always required such as pencils. If you know of someone who had that teacher or was in that grade, then they might be able to tell you as well.
Sometimes teachers are very specific about that they want (i.e. college ruled notebook instead of one with regular spaces) so if possible it might be best to wait until you know for sure. There may even be regulations on the type of backpack that you should get. If not, you could just go out and get some of the more popular school supplies.
