: How to take Care of your Kids when you are Sick
:
(404 Words)
It can be difficult to care for yourself when you are sick, much less your children. So how do you be Supermom when you are feeling under the weather? Consider the following methods for double duty while sick.
Get them some fun activities they can do without as much hands on involvement from you
This might be a great time to break out that new board game that might keep them occupied for a while. If you have a backyard with a swing set, then let them go for it. Make some craft projects that they can work on. Get some coloring books or activity projects. Let them play on the computer on educational games.
It’s okay to give up on normal limits
A lot of people have limits on certain activities. For instance, you may limit television watching time to an hour or two. It is okay to raise these limits for now. You are sick and cannot do what you normally can do. It is okay if they play video games for longer. Make sure that you explain that this is only because you are sick and will not be a typical thing. Do not feel badly that you are not spending time with them. It is best that you stay away from them anyways in the hope of them not getting sick as well.
Get help if you can
A lot of moms feel like they have to do it all, even if they are sick. It is okay to get help. You can ask a loved one or friend if they can help out. If someone offers help then do not immediately turn them down. Even if you might not normally spend the money for a babysitter, now might be a time to splurge. You might even just be able to hire a neighborhood child for very inexpensive to just come and play with your kids to occupy them while you are sick. You can also ask your spouse to help out more now as well.
It is important to take good care of yourself if you are sick. As much as possible, try to eat right and get as much sleep as you can so that you can get healthy again and start being the do-it-all mom that you are used to being. Use the above tips to help you take care of your kids while caring for yourself.
