Ideas for the something new for a Wedding
If you are a stickler for tradition, you will want to incorporate something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue into your wedding. Fortunately, the “something new” is usually the easiest of these. Women almost always wear something new for their wedding. You can choose one or more of the following items:
Dress
Many women like to get their own new wedding dresses. You might have dreamed of your wedding since you were a little girl and imagined your look. Whether you want a large princess ball gown dress or a simple shimmery sheath, you may want something that is all your own. The dress is oftentimes the new part of the bride’s look.
Shoes
Even if women borrow or inherit dresses from others, they will typically get their own shoes. Because people need to find shoes that fit, it is much more difficult to wear heirloom shoes. Shoes also fall into disrepair and you might not be able to wear shoes from a long time ago. Women usually buy these new.
Hair pieces
There are many different hair accessories that a bride might wear, and these are oftentimes bought new to match the dress. This might include a tiara or crown. It also might include a veil. Any of these items that are new can be considered a part of the tradition.
Jewelry
Sometimes a woman will get a new piece of jewelry to wear for the wedding. A mother or another relative might buy her something special for the day. It could be a necklace, earrings, a bracelet or a ring.
Accessories
There are many different accessories that a bride may carry with her on her wedding day, and any of these can be considered new. She may wear a shawl, wrap or a shrug with her dress. She may carry a clutch or another type of purse with her. Another item that some brides have is an umbrella. Also, most women wear garters on a leg, which the groom will then take off and toss to all of the single men. If a woman buys any of these new, then that can be the object to fill the tradition.
If the woman truly gets stuck, then she can use her undergarments as something new. No matter what else she borrows, it is very unlikely that she will borrow those.
The something new is an important part of a wedding look. A bride can buy any one of the above items new to meet tradition.
