There is no clear cut answer as to whether it is a good idea to buy a new car from the same salesperson. It will generally depend on the deal that you got with the first car that you purchased from him or her.
The first thing that you must do is evaluate the deal that you got when you purchased your first vehicle from them. Of course, they are going to tell you that you got a great deal, but you must consider all that happened afterwards. Did the car perform as the salesperson indicated it would? Did it fall short of or exceed your expectations? Did others feel that you got a good deal, especially those who might have knowledge about car prices?
