Job Interview Tips for when you are Pregnant

It can be challenging to go for a job interview when you are pregnant. There are different strategies that you can employ, which will make it more likely that you will get the job.
Talk to them about your availability and time you are planning to take off
Many women cannot afford to take long maternity leaves. If you are looking for a job while you are pregnant then you may be one of those. If so then emphasize this. Talk about how you plan to work up until a certain time and then are only taking a certain time off. They may be worried that you will take much longer off. You can tell them your plans as far as if you have a nanny or a parent who will help to watch the baby.
If this is not your first baby and you have successfully worked through a pregnancy and/or taken very little time off then you can highlight this. You can talk about your success with this before and that might convince them that you can handle the job.
Dress professionally
Your normal professional clothing might not fit you, but you do not want to wear something casual to a job interview (unless it is a more casual job). Invest in a maternity suit.
Do not complain about the pregnancy
You do not want to tell them that you do not feel like you can get up half the time. They may not want to hire you if they think you will be too preoccupied by how you are feeling to properly do the job. Try to be upbeat. You are probably not interviewing unless you think that you can perform the job.
Focus on your skills and credentials
The whole interview should not about the fact that you are pregnant. You want your abilities and experience to convince them that you are right for the job. Talk about how you can help the company and why you are the best candidate just as you would do with any job interview. Appear confident and very professional.
Going for a job interview when you are pregnant can be very difficult. Of course if you have just gotten pregnant and only want to work for a very short time, then you might be able to avoid saying anything at all. Many mothers, especially first time ones, do not show for quite a while, and you may be interested in leaving then anyways. Otherwise heed the above tips while on your interview.
