There are many places that offer employment during the winter. Different places in the United States have different climates, thus the type of employment you get will depend on where you live. You are likely to get a different job in Florida as compared to Maine, for instance. In addition, where exactly you go will depend on your skills and experience. You may want to look at one of the following locations.
Ski resort
If you live somewhere where it snows and where there is skiing, then you could consider looking for a job at a resort or another location that caters to skiers such as a store that sells ski equipment. Many of these resorts need to hire an entire staff just for the winter, so you may have a decent chance of finding a job. What exactly you do will depend on your skills. If you are good at skiing, for instance, then you may be able to be a ski instructor. They may need a lot of office staff and other workers as well.
There are other businesses that open only in the winter. For instance, there may be an outdoor ice skating rink that needs workers for just the winter. If you know that a business such as this opens seasonably, then try to contact them to find out their hiring process.
Winter odd jobs
You may want to look to your very own neighborhood for employment. You can shovel snow for your neighbors and others to earn a little extra cash. There are also companies that professionally work at shoveling and helping homeowners during the winter, and they may be hiring.
The mall
Many retail stores will be looking for workers at the very beginning of the winter, right before Christmas. You may be able to get a job during that time. You can look at the stores and inquire if there are any positions available. Also, some people make changes during the new year and decide to quit jobs. There may be job openings in retail stores because of that.
The winter provides the opportunity for many different types of employment. You may also live somewhere where there is more business during the winter. For instance, many “snowbirds” come down to Florida in the winter to escape the cold weather. Some restaurants and other surrounding businesses may enjoy additional business and be looking to hire employees. Otherwise try the above ideas.
