A winter wedding can be a magical experience for many. When considering this time of year for your wedding, you will want to take into account all of the pros and cons associated with the season.
Advantages
You can have a Winter Wonderland wedding
A lot of people love the winter. They may love the cold air and they may want to have a wedding with a winter wonderland theme. You can have everything be pristine and pure, with white lights and silver decorations. They might like to get dressed up in something very cozy.
You can combine it with the winter holidays
A lot of people want a winter wedding because they want to combine the celebration with Christmas or Hanukkah. They may love this time of year and think that celebrating both at the same time is meaningful.
Many children are off of school for the holidays
Most children get some sort of winter break of either a week or two. This might make it easier to get away. Also, some businesses close for a little time so some guests may attend who otherwise would have been stuck at work.
It may be conducive to your honeymoon
If you want to go skiing for your honeymoon, then a winter wedding might make this easier. Think about where you want to go and whether the winter would make sense.
Disadvantages
The weather may pose a problem
You may live in an area where it snows. In some places snowstorms occur and you may literally not be able to drive during these times. It would be terrible if you had your entire wedding planned and then suddenly you could not have it.
Even if you do not live somewhere where it snows, think about your guests. If they have a weather issue by them, then their flights might be cancelled or they may not feel like it is safe to drive. You may end up having your wedding without some of your loved ones.
It is difficult to wear what you want
Many women like to wear slinky and light wedding dresses. You may feel that this is more difficult to do during the winter months. Even if you wear it, you might be cold or uncomfortable at times.
It may be difficult or expensive to get some flowers that you want
Different flowers are more available at certain times of the year. The winter might be an especially difficult time to get some of these.
It can make an outdoor wedding more difficult
Unless you live somewhere with a very temperate climate such as Florida, an outdoor wedding may be a challenge for the winter. Even bundled up, a lot of people are not comfortable being outside when the weather is cold. You have to consider your guests, too, especially if you have elderly guests.
A winter wedding can be beautiful but it is not for everyone. Consider the above advantages and disadvantages when making your choice.
