Pros and Cons of Throwing a Surprise Birthday Party
Many people love to throw surprise birthday parties. So should you or shouldn’t you? There is no one right answer because it will depend on you as well as your recipient. There are both advantages and disadvantages to both. The following are some pros and cons of making a birthday party a surprise.
Pros:
It can be fun if the recipient loves surprises
Many people do like surprises. They may get a thrill out of suddenly having a birthday party thrown for them. This can be a lot of fun for them, as well as fun for you to plan.
You can give a great birthday party to someone who wants one but would give you a hard time about doing it
There are some people who really like parties and being the center of attention, yet they might feel shy about doing it. They may even discourage you even though it is what they want. By doing it surprise, you will just be able to do it and they will not feel bad or guilty about it.
Cons:
It is more difficult to do
As difficult as it can be to make a regular birthday party, it is that much more difficult to do a surprise birthday party. You will have to contact everyone without the birthday star finding out, and it can be difficult to get the contact information of everyone you need to invite. In addition, you will need to just hope that no one spills the beans. If one person slips up, all of your plans can go for naught. You will need to deal with the logistics of having everyone contact you, making all of the plans and doing decorations behind the person’s back. This can be very difficult, especially if the party is going to be at the home of the birthday person.
The person might not like surprises
Not everyone likes surprises. Some people would rather not be the center of attention and really do not like parties. They might really not enjoy it but have no choice but to stay there with a smile and pretend that they are enjoying themselves.
It can be a challenge to decide whether to have a surprise birthday party for someone. Think about whether you think that they would like it and whether you can logistically pull it off. Consider the above advantages and disadvantages when making your decision.
